the exedra | the maze | the coffee house | the orangery | the small wood
This small tempietto-like building was designed in 1720 as a place where holidaymakers could find some relief. At that time the Coffee House had no shutters and it was particularly pleasant to stop there in hot days because the holes in the floor let cool air from the underneath ice-room. The Coffee House lies on a small hill hiding a barrel vaulted room that in past centuries was used as ice-room. The water ring around the small hill was built at the time of Napoleon's power to make the picking up easier.
